Amnesia

He traps a swarm in his skull
Bee beasts multiplied
Huddled, hurdled, slow and dull
Their stings over-amplified

He crawls off a tightrope
Tired arms clinging by a finger
Slippery hands, what a sad trope
Caterpillars chewing off his anger

His cockroach eyes go wild
For a woman scorned, but who?
Clawing at his throat, he’s a child
Does he taste like them, too?

He traps a swarm in his skull
Lonely larvae gnawing at his brain
Devoured by the mighty seagull-
King, of truly all the main

He crawls off a tightrope
Help me, help me, find a trigger
Pull him out of the beetle’s grope
Seagull, seagull, what a true ogre

His cockroach eyes go wild
For a forgotten ladybug, what to do?
Curdling back in his cocoon so well styled
How could he possibly be so blue?

He traps a swarm in his skull
He crawls off a tightrope
His cockroach eyes go wild
For the Seagull-king’s prepared demise

About The Author
June Rossaert June Rossaert is a Vanier alumnus who studied as a Communications student at Vanier, with a background in Visual Arts and Cinema from the Saint-Hyacinthe Cegep. She is an aspiring novelist, poet and screenwriter hoping to obtain a degree in creative writing and literature. Her parents, one might be surprised to hear, are rather supportive of her chosen field, perhaps because they have yet to lose hope that she will eventually earn enough money to survive on her own, and her friends are simply blind optimists. June Rossaert is, essentially, a hopeless nerd with a passion for the written word which she desperately hopes to transfer through her works.
