“Music Is Not Cancelled” (And Is Doing Its Part for COVID-19 Relief)

Countless concerts and festivals have been cancelled worldwide due to the pandemic.  Nonetheless, “Music is not cancelled”, at least according to Songkick when advertising their first YouTube live stream festival, “PlayOn Fest”, where film recordings of several artists were set to play from April 24th to April 27th.   This event took place, not only to provide entertainment for music addicts like me, but also to raise funds for the World Health Organization (WHO). Merch was also available for purchase, with all proceeds going towards the organization.    They had…

Album 👏 Review 👏

Today, I decided to listen to Linkin Park’s entire discography (ok, I lied; I only listened to their most famous albums because I was a lil short on time … and I just can’t get into some albums), and I’ve come to the conclusion that LIVING THINGS is their best album. Here’s how I’ve reached this conclusion: It is the only one that doesn’t get boring after a while.  Albums such as Meteora and Minutes to Midnight get bland a few songs in because many songs are so similar, and…

EVERYONE IS A SOCIALIST DURING A PANDEMIC

The powerful have decided that we can all have human rights, and a little socialism on the side, as a treat, right when it seems as though the apocalypse will hit. The corporations that had long resisted providing their employees with humane working conditions, as well as necessary benefits, have suddenly reconsidered and decided that perhaps people should, maybe, be treated with respect. Of course, not everything can be perfect, and we cannot expect much, but paid sick leave and some compensation (you know, the bare minimum) is now feasible….

A Return to “Business as Usual” on the Horizon?

After more than six weeks since school and business closures amid the implementation of social distancing measures, Québec’s Premier, François Legault, recently announced that he and his team are considering re-starting the economy. This decision would involve the gradual reopening of businesses and schools so as to begin establishing natural herd immunity.   Though people mostly agree on the fact that they miss their routines and being able to have a non-virtual social life, this announcement has proven to be quite polarizing.   On the one hand, several parents are…

Eggshells

For years, I’ve been walking on eggshells. Year after year, They became thinner and thinner, Until the day they cracked. But instead of being covered With egg yolk and egg white, Instead of becoming A greasy yellow and A bright transparent, I was covered with the blood Of the person I once was.   By Sophie Dufresne

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has changed our lives in every aspect of society. Instead, we are all (hopefully) staying at home to work and study, while waiting for the latest directives and projections from our governments. VCSA Update on COVID-19

As we are all struggling to keep our mental health in check, while also adjusting to online learning and upholding whatever other personal obligations we might have, as teachers tell us to “enjoy our unexpected break”, all the while giving extra assignments to make up for missed classes, we might feel like there is no way we can realistically meet every deadline. Several students have voiced their concerns to the VCSA, mainly about the lack of support they are receiving from their teachers (especially students who have little access to…

Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Vanier College’s beloved mascot, Cheeto the Cheetah.  For decades he has been a staple to Vanier’s Athletic Teams, as well as to Vanier Student Life. Bringing school spirit and hugs, Cheeto was a joy to all who met him. Prior to the incident, students had the opportunity to see Cheeto for the last time at Vanier Student Life’s First Annual Geekcon, where he engaged in lightsaber duels and took selfies with students. He is survived by the Vanier…
