The inventor of the term, Cory Doctorow, says that it happens in three stages. Let’s take the following example of Facebook. Meet me in the middle

There are these spaces in the city of Montréal, that exist either of their own accord or that seem to only exist when we create them, that are so horrific and beautiful at the same time. The backrooms, not necessarily as a system of lore, but as a visual medium, are so interesting. Because the aura and the air of the space functions never as a destination, but as a journey point. Although there has been an increase, the fact is that trans people have been an undeniable part of society across time. Most of these people weren’t activists or pioneers, which is why the Insider has chosen to honour random, and fascinating, trans people who you’ve probably never heard of for this…

The Marriage of Art and politics : Montréal’s Teesri Duniya theatre

Theatre has been around for much longer than Shakespeare unlike what many think- the first traces of theatre actually date all the way back to Minoan Crete! Dramas and plays like Oedipus Rex written by Sopphocle were the height of culture and entertainment- and held messages of identity and personal discovery, even sometimes stories of immigration. In modern times, television shows and movies have drawn the public away from in-person theatre, but Montreal’s own Teersi Dunya Theatre carries a team of very talented individuals and passionate artists. It was in…
