Meet the Vanier College Robotics Team
by: Robotics Team Captain
The Vanier Robotics Team is looking for new members! Help us add to our impressive collection of trophies and awards by competing with us at this year’s CRC Competition. People of all interests are invited to join in, regardless of having previous experience or not! Even if electronics is not your thing, there is something for everyone: whether your interests are aligned with hands-on building, creative designing, drawing, painting, website building, video-making or programming, we want you in the team!

The sub-teams
The CRC competition has many additional categories that go beyond the robot itself. The Vanier Robotics Team is divided in sub-groups to tackle each one:

Build: The build team is what most people think of when they hear robotics. It’s the sub-team that makes the actual robot.
Kiosk: Show your creative side and design and build the structure that will house the robot and team during the competition. Integrate games and interactive elements to attract passersby.
Website: Website is where you can let out your artistic side and your nerdy side by either designing a website or coding it (or both!!!)
Video: When it comes to robotics, people don’t often think about screenwriting or acting, but it is a possibility you can explore when creating fun and explanatory videos for the competition. Editing the video and the sounds, as well as filming, are also important tasks that need to be completed in the video team.

Programming: The programming sub-team is often the one most people are worried about joining without prior knowledge, but with the help of the workshops offered and the help of the other teammates, you can take on any programming challenges you come across.
Perks: The Vanier Robotics Team gets privileged access to the Makerspace. It offers a space where you can hangout and work on the tasks with fellow team members,
while enjoying a lively and, at times, chaotic atmosphere. The team also often meets up for fun recreational activities to let off some steam. The team room is situated in the STEM center, room D-303 although it is mostly used by the robotics team it is open to all the students in Vanier for their projects when Anghelos, the robotics mentor and the makerspace supervisor, is around.
You are wanted for robotics!
